If you are applying for a Maharashtra scholarship in 2026-27, the main task is to use the correct MahaDBT portal, sign in with the right identity method, and understand what you can manage after login.
MahaDBT 2.0 is the upgraded Direct Benefit Transfer platform used for scholarship applications, application tracking, scrutiny updates, and other student services for the 2026-27 academic year.
The current system uses Maha ID and Aadhaar-based authentication. First-time users may need to complete registration and obtain a Maha ID, while existing applicants can use the available Citizen Login options to access their account.
Students should avoid relying on old MahaDBT login pages or outdated screenshots because the portal structure and sign-in process have changed.
This guide explains the complete MahaDBT Login 2026-27 process, including new registration, Maha ID login, Aadhaar authentication, scholarship application access, status checking, scrutiny stages, password/login problems, and what to do if the portal is not working.

MahaDBT Login 2026-27 Overview
The MahaDBT 2.0 portal brings student registration, scholarship application, login, and application tracking into one updated system for the 2026-27 academic year.
The biggest change for returning students is the move away from older MahaDBT login flows toward the newer Maha ID / Aadhaar-based authentication system, so using an outdated login page can create unnecessary confusion.
| MahaDBT Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Portal | MahaDBT 2.0 |
| Academic Year | 2026-27 |
| Application Type | Fresh and applicable renewal applications |
| Student Access | Citizen Login |
| Main Login Methods | Maha ID, Aadhaar and other available login options |
| New-User Identity | Maha ID |
| Registration System | MahaSarathi-integrated registration |

For most students, the practical flow is:
Register / obtain Maha ID → open Citizen Login → authenticate → access scholarship application → submit or manage form → track scrutiny/status using the application reference
Students who previously used the older MahaDBT platform should pay special attention to the MahaDBT 2.0 migration, because the login interface, identity verification, and account-access process may differ from what they used in earlier academic years.
The official portal link is best introduced in the actual login and registration steps below, where students need to open it and take action.
What Is MahaDBT 2.0?
MahaDBT 2.0 is the upgraded Maharashtra Direct Benefit Transfer platform used for government scholarship and welfare schemes.
During 2026, Maharashtra shifted scholarship processing from the older MahaDBT system to the newer platform. The migration includes major Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, and other DBT-linked student schemes.
For students, the practical change is straightforward:
Old MahaDBT workflow → MahaDBT 2.0 workflow
Applications covered under the migrated system for 2025-26 and 2026-27 should therefore be handled through the new platform rather than an outdated login page.
How to Login to MahaDBT 2.0 in 2026-27
The updated portal uses a different authentication flow from the older username-and-password login that many returning students may remember.
For the current application process, use the official portal:
Step 1: Open the MahaDBT 2.0 Portal
Visit the official MahaDBT 2.0 website and make sure you are using the current government portal before entering personal details.
Students should avoid relying on old bookmarks or third-party login pages because the scholarship system has moved to the upgraded platform.
Step 2: Choose the Correct Student Category
If the portal asks for an education category, select the option that matches your current level, such as:
- School Student
- College Student
Choosing the correct student type helps the system show the appropriate scholarship and application options.
Step 3: Open Apply / Citizen Login
Select the available Apply or Citizen Login option.
The exact label can change slightly as the portal interface is updated, so follow the current screen rather than an older screenshot.
Step 4: Choose Your Login Method
Depending on the options shown, students may be able to authenticate using:
- Maha ID
- Aadhaar-based login
- Another available citizen-login method
Use the method linked to your existing registration.
Step 5: Enter the Required Identity Details
If you are using Maha ID, enter the Maha ID created during registration.
If you are using Aadhaar-based authentication, enter the requested Aadhaar-linked details as shown on the portal.
Do not create a second identity simply because you cannot immediately access the first one.
Step 6: Complete OTP Verification
The portal can send an OTP to the registered or Aadhaar-linked mobile number, depending on the login route.
Enter the OTP to complete authentication.
After successful verification, the MahaDBT applicant dashboard should open, where the student can continue an application, check submitted forms, or track available scholarship-status information.
For returning applicants, the most important rule is to use the same identity and account linked to the existing scholarship record rather than starting a duplicate registration unnecessarily.
What Is Maha ID in MahaDBT?
Maha ID is the citizen identity used to access the newer MahaDBT 2.0 system and other connected Maharashtra government services.
For a first-time applicant, Maha ID is created during the registration process and can later be used for Citizen Login, scholarship access, identity verification, and future account management.
Students should save it carefully because it may be needed whenever they return to the MahaDBT account.
Maha ID can be used for:
- MahaDBT 2.0 login
- Scholarship application access
- Applicant-account recovery or verification
- Future DBT-related services
- Identity-linked government services
Maha ID vs Application Reference Number (ARN)
These two numbers serve different purposes.
| Identifier | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Maha ID | Identifies the citizen/applicant account and is used for login/access |
| Application Reference Number (ARN) | Identifies a specific scholarship application after submission |
A student may therefore have one Maha ID but different application reference numbers for different submitted services or application cycles, depending on the system.
Do not confuse the ARN with the login identity.
How to Register for MahaDBT 2.0 in 2026-27
Students who do not yet have a Maha ID should complete the registration process before starting the scholarship application.
Before beginning, keep ready:
- Aadhaar number
- Aadhaar-linked mobile number
- Active mobile number
- Email address
- Address details
- Bank information
- Academic details
- Scholarship documents required for the later application stage
Most supporting certificates are generally more relevant when completing the actual scholarship form than during basic account creation.
Step 1: Open the Official MahaDBT 2.0 Portal
Visit the official MahaDBT 2.0 website and select the Register or new-user registration option shown on the current portal.
Step 2: Start Maha ID Registration
The portal connects new-user registration with Maharashtra’s citizen-identity system used to create a Maha ID.
Choose the identity-registration option displayed for applicants.
Step 3: Complete Aadhaar Authentication
Enter the Aadhaar details requested by the system and provide the required consent for authentication.
If OTP verification is used, the OTP may be sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
Enter it carefully to continue.
Step 4: Review Your Personal Information
Identity details available through the connected system may be filled automatically.
Check information such as:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Mobile number
- Email address
If the information is clearly incorrect, do not ignore the mismatch merely to finish registration. Resolve the underlying identity issue before proceeding where the portal requires an exact match.
Step 5: Complete Contact and Address Details
Enter the remaining information requested by the registration form, such as:
- District
- Taluka
- PIN code
- Residential address
- Mobile number
- Email address
Complete the captcha or other verification shown on the screen.
Step 6: Generate and Save Your Maha ID
After successful registration and verification, the system generates the applicant’s Maha ID.
Save it somewhere secure before moving to the scholarship application.
A practical approach is to keep:
- Maha ID
- Registered mobile number
- Email address
- Aadhaar-linked details
together in a secure personal record so that the account can be accessed again later.
Once the Maha ID is created, the student can return to the Citizen Login and continue with the relevant MahaDBT scholarship application.
MahaDBT Login With Aadhaar
Students can use Aadhaar-based login on MahaDBT 2.0 where that option is available under Citizen Login.
The basic process is:
- Open the MahaDBT 2.0 portal.
- Select Citizen Login.
- Choose Aadhaar as the login method.
- Enter the Aadhaar number.
- Complete OTP authentication.
- Open the applicant dashboard.
For OTP-based login, the mobile number linked with Aadhaar or the connected identity record must be accessible.
If the OTP is not arriving, first check whether the registered mobile number is active before repeatedly requesting new OTPs.
MahaDBT Login With Maha ID
Students who already have a Maha ID can use it to access their MahaDBT 2.0 account.
The process is:
- Open the MahaDBT 2.0 portal.
- Go to Citizen Login.
- Select the Maha ID login option.
- Enter your Maha ID.
- Complete the required verification or OTP step.
- Access the applicant dashboard.
Keep the Maha ID safely recorded because it identifies the citizen account and may also be used with other supported Maharashtra government services.
Which Login Method Should You Use?
Use the method already connected with your account.
If you have an existing Maha ID, there is usually no benefit in creating another identity simply because Aadhaar login is also available.
Likewise, if the portal successfully identifies your account through Aadhaar authentication, do not create a duplicate registration unless the system specifically requires a new account.
Old MahaDBT Login Not Working After MahaDBT 2.0 Migration
Returning students can face login problems because MahaDBT 2.0 is not simply the old portal with a redesigned interface.
Scholarship services were migrated to a newer system during 2026, and the authentication process now relies more heavily on Maha ID, Aadhaar verification, and the current Citizen Login options.
If your old MahaDBT username and password no longer work:
- Do not repeatedly submit the same old credentials.
- Open the current MahaDBT 2.0 Citizen Login.
- Check whether your account can be accessed through Maha ID or Aadhaar.
- Complete Maha ID registration if the portal requires it.
- Use the same identity details associated with your earlier scholarship record.
- Avoid creating a duplicate scholarship application merely because the old login fails.
What If My Previous Scholarship Application Is Not Showing?
After a major system migration, an older application may not always appear in exactly the same place or format as it did on the previous portal.
If previous records are missing:
- Confirm that you are logged in with the correct identity.
- Check the relevant academic year.
- Look for migrated or previous applications in the dashboard.
- Keep your old application number, registration details, or supporting documents available.
- Use the official help channel if the expected record still cannot be found.
Do not assume that a missing dashboard entry means the previous scholarship was deleted or rejected.
Avoid Duplicate Applications During Migration
Creating another application before understanding what happened to the original one can lead to:
- Duplicate records
- Conflicting application numbers
- Verification problems
- Difficulty linking the student’s previous scholarship history
The safer approach is:
Recover the correct MahaDBT 2.0 account first → check migrated application history → create a fresh application only when the current portal actually requires one.
How to Apply for Scholarship After MahaDBT Login
Logging in to MahaDBT 2.0 only opens the applicant dashboard. Students still need to select the correct scholarship scheme, complete the form, upload the required documents, and submit the application.
The practical flow is:
Login → choose scheme → check eligibility → complete application → upload documents → preview → final submit → save ARN
Step 1: Open Apply for Scheme
After login, open the Apply for Scheme section from the applicant dashboard.
Step 2: Find the Correct Scholarship
Use the available filters to locate the scholarship relevant to your course and category.
These filters can include:
- Department
- Scheme type
- Scheme name
Read the eligibility conditions carefully before applying.
Do not choose a scheme only because the name looks similar to one used in a previous year. Eligibility can depend on factors such as course, institution, category, income, domicile, and academic level.
Step 3: Select the Correct Academic Year
Choose 2026-27 where the portal asks for the academic session.
Using the wrong academic year can create problems later when the institution verifies the application.
Step 4: Complete the Scholarship Form
Fill all mandatory sections carefully.
Some information may be fetched automatically from connected government databases. Review these details before continuing, especially:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Aadhaar-linked information
- Address
- Academic details
- Bank information
- Institution details
An auto-filled field should not automatically be assumed correct if it clearly does not match the student’s current records.
Step 5: Upload Required Documents
Upload the documents required by the selected scholarship.
The portal can accept commonly used formats such as PDF, JPG, and JPEG, subject to the file-size and format rules shown on the live application screen.
The exact documents depend on the scheme and can include items such as:
- Aadhaar-related documents
- Domicile or residence proof
- Income certificate
- Caste/category certificate
- Previous-year marksheet
- Admission or fee receipt
- Bank details
- Other scheme-specific certificates
Only upload documents actually requested for the selected scheme.
Step 6: Preview the Application
Before final submission, use the preview option to check:
- Personal details
- Academic year
- Course and institution
- Scheme selected
- Uploaded documents
- Bank information
- Declaration details
Where the portal provides a draft option, students can save an incomplete form and continue later.
Step 7: Submit the Application
Once all details are correct, complete the final submission.
After successful submission, the system generates an Application Reference Number (ARN).
Save the ARN carefully because it is one of the most important references for tracking the scholarship application.
How to Check MahaDBT Application Status 2026-27
MahaDBT 2.0 provides a Track Application facility for submitted applications.
The Application Reference Number (ARN) is particularly important because it identifies the specific scholarship application being tracked.
Step 1: Open MahaDBT 2.0
Go to the official MahaDBT 2.0 portal and locate the application-tracking option.
Step 2: Select Track Application
Open Track Application from the available benefit or scholarship services.
Step 3: Select the Scheme Details
Choose the information requested by the tracker, such as:
- Scheme type
- Department
- Scheme name
Use the same scheme under which the application was submitted.
Step 4: Enter the ARN
Enter the Application Reference Number generated after final submission.
Avoid confusing this with the Maha ID.
Maha ID identifies the applicant account.
ARN identifies the specific submitted application.
Step 5: Complete Verification
Enter the captcha or other security verification displayed on the tracking page.
Step 6: Check the Current Status
The application can move through broader stages such as:
Application Submission → Scrutiny → Disbursement
The exact wording may vary depending on the scheme and department.
What Do the Main MahaDBT Status Stages Mean?
Application Submission means the form has been successfully submitted but may still need institution or department verification.
Scrutiny means the application or supporting documents are being checked at one or more processing levels.
Disbursement means the application has progressed toward benefit-payment processing.
A submitted application should therefore not be treated as approved simply because an ARN has been generated.
The most useful approach is to check both the current stage and any remark shown with the application, especially if the status remains unchanged for a long period.
MahaDBT Desk-Wise Application Status
One of the more useful features of MahaDBT 2.0 is that students may be able to see where an application is currently pending during scrutiny.
Depending on the scholarship and department, the application can move through different processing desks, such as:
- Institute / Principal
- Administrative Officer
- Departmental authority
- DDO or applicable payment authority
If an application remains at one desk for some time, it usually means that the current stage of verification or approval has not yet been completed.
A pending desk status should not automatically be treated as rejection.
Students should check:
- The desk where the application is pending
- Any remark shown with the application
- Whether the institute has completed verification
- Whether additional documents or correction are required
This is more useful than looking only at a generic “Pending” label.
Forgot MahaDBT Username or Login Details
Returning students from the older MahaDBT system may still encounter username-based recovery options in some account flows.
Where Forgot Username is available, the portal can ask for details such as:
- Applicant name
- Registered mobile number
- Date of birth
- OTP verification
Follow the recovery process shown on the current portal.
For accounts now linked with Maha ID or Aadhaar, use the Citizen Login and identity-recovery options available in MahaDBT 2.0 rather than trying to force the old login method.
Old Username Not Recognised
If an older MahaDBT username is not accepted, first check whether the account now needs to be accessed through:
- Maha ID
- Aadhaar
- Migrated Citizen Login
Do not create another scholarship account unless the portal clearly requires a new registration.
Forgot MahaDBT Password
If the account still uses password-based access and the password has been forgotten:
- Select Forgot Password.
- Enter the requested username or account detail.
- Complete OTP verification using the registered mobile number.
- Create a new password.
- Confirm the password.
- Return to the login page and sign in again.
A forgotten password is an account-recovery issue, not a reason to create a second scholarship application.
MahaDBT Renewal Login 2026-27
Students who received or applied for an eligible scholarship previously may need to submit a renewal application for 2026-27.
Because scholarship services moved to MahaDBT 2.0, returning applicants should begin from the new portal and use the available Citizen Login or migration-related access method.
After successful login:
- Open the applicant dashboard.
- Check previous application information where available.
- Select the applicable scholarship scheme.
- Choose the 2026-27 academic year.
- Update current course and academic information.
- Upload any newly required documents.
- Review the application carefully.
- Submit the renewal application.
- Save the new Application Reference Number where generated.
Receiving a scholarship in an earlier academic year does not guarantee automatic approval for 2026-27.
Renewal applications can still be checked for:
- Continued course eligibility
- Academic progression
- Income criteria
- Institution information
- Required documents
- Scheme-specific conditions
Fresh vs Renewal: Which Should You Choose?
Use Renewal when the scheme and your previous application history make you eligible to continue under the renewal route.
Use Fresh when the current scholarship requires a new application rather than continuation.
Do not select Renewal only because you used MahaDBT before. The correct choice depends on the specific scholarship scheme and academic progression.
Documents to Keep Ready for MahaDBT Scholarship Application
The exact MahaDBT document list varies by department, scholarship, category, course, and admission type.
Common documents can include:
- Aadhaar
- Previous examination marksheet
- Income certificate
- Domicile or residence proof
- Caste certificate, where applicable
- Caste validity certificate where required
- Admission receipt
- Fee receipt
- CAP allotment document for applicable professional admissions
- Gap certificate, if required
- Bank account information
- Photograph
- Signature
- Other scheme-specific certificates
Do Not Use a Generic Checklist as the Final Document List
A general document list is useful only for preparation.
The actual requirement should come from the specific scholarship page shown inside MahaDBT 2.0.
For example, a professional-course scholarship may ask for documents that are not required for a standard undergraduate scheme.
Before submitting, compare every uploaded file with:
- Scheme eligibility
- Current academic year
- Required document name
- Validity period
- File format
- File-size limit
Uploading unnecessary or outdated documents does not improve the application and can create confusion during scrutiny.
The safest approach is:
Open the exact scholarship → read its document requirements → prepare only the applicable records → upload clear and valid files.
Common Reasons a MahaDBT Application Faces Problems
A MahaDBT application can face scrutiny issues even when the portal itself is working correctly. In many cases, the problem comes from incorrect, mismatched, incomplete, or unreadable information in the scholarship form.
Students should therefore check the exact remark shown with the application before assuming that a pending or rejected status is caused by a technical error.
Income Details Do Not Match
The income entered in the scholarship form should match the applicable income certificate and required financial-year information.
A mismatch between the entered income and uploaded certificate can create scrutiny problems.
Before submission, verify:
- Income amount
- Certificate holder name
- Certificate validity
- Financial year
- Other scheme-specific income conditions
Wrong Scholarship Scheme Selected
MahaDBT contains many schemes administered by different Maharashtra government departments.
A student may become ineligible if the selected scheme does not match factors such as:
- Course
- Student category
- Institution type
- Admission type
- Family income
- Academic level
- Other scheme-specific conditions
Read the eligibility section of the exact scholarship before applying instead of selecting a scheme only because its title looks relevant.
Unclear or Invalid Documents
Blurry, cropped, incomplete, expired, or unreadable documents can delay scrutiny or lead to objections.
Before uploading, make sure:
- The full document is visible
- Text can be read clearly
- Important seals/signatures are visible
- The correct document has been uploaded
- The file meets the portal’s current size and format requirements
Missing Admission Documents
Some professional and technical-course scholarships may require admission-related records.
Depending on the scheme, this can include CAP allotment or other admission documents.
Students should follow the requirements shown for the exact benefit rather than assuming every scholarship needs the same admission proof.
Academic Gap Not Explained
Where the selected scheme requires it, a student with a break in education may need a Gap Certificate or related explanation.
The effect of an academic gap depends on the scholarship rules, so students should check the conditions of the specific scheme rather than assuming a gap automatically makes them ineligible.
MahaDBT Aadhaar Bank Seeding and DBT Payment
MahaDBT scholarship benefits are paid through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Students should make sure the bank account intended to receive the benefit is active and correctly linked wherever the scheme requires Aadhaar/NPCI-based payment routing.
Important checks can include:
- Correct bank account details
- Active bank account
- Correct account-holder information
- Aadhaar linkage where required
- NPCI mapping / DBT seeding where applicable
Students should not wait until the final payment stage to discover that the bank account information is incorrect.
Disbursement Does Not Always Mean Money Is Credited
If the application has reached a Disbursement stage, it does not necessarily mean the scholarship amount has already appeared in the bank account.
There can still be a difference between:
Benefit approved → payment processed → sent through DBT system → bank receives transaction → amount credited
So if the application has moved to disbursement but the money has not appeared yet, first check the payment status and bank details rather than submitting another scholarship application.
MahaDBT Login Not Working
If MahaDBT 2.0 login is not working, identify the actual problem before creating another account or application.
OTP Not Received
If the OTP does not arrive:
- Confirm the registered or Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active
- Check mobile network connectivity
- Wait briefly before requesting another OTP
- Make sure messages are not being blocked
- Confirm that the correct mobile number is linked to the identity being used
Repeated OTP requests in a short period may not solve an underlying mobile-number issue.
Old MahaDBT Credentials Not Accepted
Returning students should remember that the system migrated to MahaDBT 2.0.
If an old username or password is not accepted, use the current:
- Citizen Login
- Maha ID route
- Aadhaar authentication
- Account-recovery or migration option shown by the portal
Do not assume the old login credentials must work unchanged.
Maha ID Not Found
If the portal does not recognise the Maha ID:
- Recheck the number for typing mistakes.
- Confirm that you are using the same identity created during registration.
- Use the available account or identity recovery facility.
- Avoid immediately generating a second Maha ID.
Duplicate identity records can make future scholarship access more confusing.
Previous Application Not Visible
Older scholarship records may appear differently after migration from the earlier MahaDBT system to MahaDBT 2.0.
Before submitting another application:
- Confirm you are using the correct Maha ID/Aadhaar identity
- Select the correct academic year
- Check previous or migrated applications
- Keep the old application reference available
- Use official support if the expected record remains missing
A missing application on the dashboard does not automatically mean that it was rejected or deleted.
MahaDBT Portal Page Not Loading
For a temporary portal problem, try:
- A current version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox
- Reloading the page
- Clearing outdated browser cache
- Allowing required pop-ups
- Reopening the portal in a fresh tab
- Trying again after a temporary server slowdown
Avoid clicking Submit, Pay, or Apply repeatedly when the page is slow. Multiple submissions can create duplicate requests or uncertainty about whether the first action succeeded.
MahaDBT Helpline
Students who cannot resolve a registration, Maha ID, login, scholarship application, scrutiny, or portal-related issue can use the official support channels.
MahaDBT Helpline: 022-49150800
Chief Minister Helpline: 1800 120 8040
The MahaDBT system also provides a grievance mechanism for unresolved application-related issues.
What to Keep Ready Before Contacting Support
Keep the relevant details available, such as:
- Student name
- Maha ID
- Academic year
- Scheme name
- Application Reference Number (ARN)
- Registered mobile number
- Aadhaar-linked details where genuinely required for identification
- Exact error message
- Screenshot of the problem, if useful
- Clear description of what has already been tried
Do not share passwords, OTPs, PINs, or unnecessary banking credentials with anyone claiming to provide scholarship support.
A precise support request such as “2026-27 application submitted, ARN generated, but previous scrutiny status is not visible after migration” is much more useful than simply saying “MahaDBT not working.”
